In the process of mailing conference announcements regarding Forward Motion (1999) I became frustrated trying to locate a source which contained e-mail lists for people who might be interested in attending the conference. Born from that frustration came this page.
The following are mailing lists or newgroups which may be of interest to trans men, their partners/significant others/family/friends or have transgendered or transexual components.
They first series of entries are gender groups which are listed in alphabetical order (unless I screwed up of course). The remaining entries are grouped by categories. In some cases the the text came from the wranglers themselves. In others, the descriptors are mine if anyone has a better description of the lists I'd be happy to change the text.
If you know about a new list, by all means e-mail me so that I can add it. I am completely dependent on you to tell me if a list has met its demise, changed names, moved or just plain does not work. If a link does not work, I'd greatly appreciate your contacting me, so that I can act accordingly.
To subscribe to one of the lists read the instructions, then simply click on the list name to send e-mail. Don't forget that each list may have a separate protocol to join it.

A mailing list for people with Benjamin's Syndrome (aka transsexuality, GID, etc). The main requirement for joining is simply sharing the belief that Benjamin's Syndrome is a physical medical condition (ie having the wrong sort of gonads), not a psychological problem, a lifestyle choice, or whatever.

I'm pleased to announce the creation of Trans-legal. Here is a group where transgendred and transsexual people of all walks of life can share information on how to work within, around and through the binary-sex system toward safety and comfort.
It is likely that we will only be answering our own questions, one transperson to another. Anyone respectful, with some knowledge of law will be welcome. At this time, I am petitioning to have my name changed, even though by New York State Law, I can't have the legal status of my sex changed until after surgery. I will be posting the petition in fill-in-the-blank style for this, and as many of my future trans-related legal endeavors as possible, and hopefully others who join will do the same.

The Cybele mailing list is for transsexuals and supporters who are dyed-in-the-wool metalheads. While topics for the list are fairly open-ended, the main focii are:
* To discuss metal bands, music, philosophy, art, fans, the scene, etc. from a TS point of view;
* To provide support for transsexuals dealing with a metal scene that is often patriarchal and homophobic; and
* To encourage the expression of transsexuals' gender through metal.

Hey ya'll I decided to start my own group for my gf Mandy and everyone else that is scared of someone they love starting transition. I've been on a lot of groups that start down grading other people for their honest opionions so I won't tolerate that from ANYONE. You can be honest with your opionions and not use names or to deliberately hurt someone's feelings. Opionions vary among people remember that and we shouldn't have any problems. Transgendered(TG)/Transsexual(TS)/Genderqueer Jews and SOFFAs list. Discussing how Judaism affects our gender/sex experiences and vice-versa. How do we live as a trans Jews? Do our trans experiences bring lessons to l'Kallal Yisrael (Jewish community)? Does being trans affect our Jewish observances? Do various Jewish traditions and texts address trans experiences? What are the trans experiences in different Jewish traditions, observances, ethnicities and locations worldwide? What is it to be partners or family members of trans Jews? All levels of observance, backgrounds and viewpoints welcome. Understanding where there are 5 Jews, there are 7 opinions, standards of Leshan Charah (preventing evil speech) will be strongly upheld. The Dina List
Dina was the daughter of the Patriarch Jacob. According to the Midrash (Jewish lore), Dina was conceived male. When her mother Leah realized that Dina would be her seventh son and that she would have the majority of the destined twelve tribes, while her sister Rachel would only have one, she prayed that Dina should be born a girl. A miracle occurred, the rabbis told us, and Dina was changed to female in the womb.
For that reason, I decided to name this list after her.
The purpose of this list is to provide a place for male-to-female and female-to-male transsexuals who are Orthodox Jews to meet and discuss things. The list will also be open to transsexuals who used to be Orthodox but aren't anymore provided that they retain a positive view of Orthodox Judaism. For example, posts dismissing Orthodoxy as "a tool of the patriarchy" or "too archaic to be relevant to us" would not be appropriate for the list. While there are people who hold those views and others like them, other lists might be a better place to voice them.
Prospective Orthodox converts will be accepted to the list on an ad hoc basis. In other words, there is no rule about them, and each case will be dealt with on a one-by-one basis.
The list will not be archived, but it is recommended that you use an account without your real name on it if you are concerned about the possibility of being outed. Being outed as transsexual in the frum community is far more damaging than being outed as gay or lesbian, which is why I suggest this. Many free e-mail services can be found at http://www.emailaddresses.com.
If you know the real name of someone who is using another name on the list, do not under any circumstances use their real name in a post. It doesn't matter that we are all in the same situation, so to speak; everyone has the right to anonymity on this list.
You can discuss anything you like on the list. But you must be respectful of other list members. Transsexuality is not an easy issue in terms of Jewish law, and everyone finds their own way to cope. The way someone else may have found might be different than yours.
Additionally, there may be list members who have had surgery and list members who haven't. And list members who don't have any plans to have surgery. This list is not a place to argue whether any of those decisions is "right" or "wrong" or whether one or another of them makes someone "more" of a transsexual than others.
Please don't post any attachments to the list. If you want to show someone a picture of any kind, the best way to do that is to upload it to a website and post the URL. If you don't know how, other list members can help.

There is a list

Campus that you may wish to check out. While it has a certain
activist slant, that's because many people on the list are the first
that their colleges are having to deal with and make policy around.
You will certainly find a sympathetic bunch, although traffic has
slowed a little with summer break.

The American Boyz is very pleased to announce the launch of ElderTG, a support and networking e-mail list for transsexual, transgender, and intersex persons (both MTF and FTM) aged 50 and older and SOFFAs (significant others, friends, family, and allies) of such persons. Both long-time transgender persons and those new to transgender issues are welcome.
